As we all know Scotland has a reputation for having some of the best Atlantic Salmon fishing in the world but Scotland is equally famous if not even more famous for its national product and that of course is whisky. Speyside is the home of whisky production in Scotland with over fifty distilleries located in the region. Famous whisky’s like the Aberlour, Glenfarclas and Macallan to name just but a few are all located in Speyside. Visitors from all over the world flock every year to Speyside to visit the magnificent distilleries and also follow the world famous malt whisky trail. Many of the distilleries in Speyside are located on the banks of the famous River Spey which is of course one of the most famous salmon rivers in the country.
Through our selected partners we have carefully created a fascinating salmon fishing and whisky tour which involves two days salmon fishing on the River Spey as well as one day’s whisky distillery tour. This tour is a must for all anglers that have a keen interest in whisky and is steeped in Scottish history. On the day of your whisky tour you will have a private driver so you can travel between distilleries with ease and hassle free. The day will culminate in a private whisky tasting session at the Mash Tun whisky bar in Aberlour.
Usually the best times to fish the River Spey is between the months of April through to August and as most of the distilleries are open all year we recommend booking this package anytime from late spring through to the summer months. When booking this package we recommend that anglers stay at Aberlour Hotel for fishers who have four legged friends and the Mash Tun which is also located in the pretty Speyside town of Aberlour. Both hotels are no more than a stone’s throw from the river itself.
To get the best from your Speyside Scottish salmon fishing and whisky tour we recommend two days fishing on the River Spey and one day enjoying the whisky tour coupled with four nights’ accommodation but as with all of our packages this can be tailored to suit your requirements.
