Spring Salmon Fishing Safari 2026
Package Overview
The Scottish spring salmon season runs from January to May and is renowned for producing some of the largest, freshest, and hardest-fighting salmon of the year. While numbers may be lower than in summer, the power and size of these fish—often over twenty pounds—offer anglers an unrivalled challenge and sense of achievement. Many enthusiasts favour landing just one or two spring salmon over catching larger numbers later in the season, making this a highly prized time to fish. To give you the best chance of success, this package offers access to three of Scotland’s most productive spring rivers: the Thurso, the Spey, and the Tay.
Each river offers a unique experience steeped in tradition. The Thurso, opening in January, provides prime fishing through April and May and pairs perfectly with a stay at the historic Ulbster Arms Hotel. The River Spey, flowing through iconic whisky country, is world-famous for fly fishing, with the best months from March to May and charming accommodation in Aberlour. The mighty River Tay, home to the British record salmon, opens in January and consistently produces powerful fish over twenty pounds, with Dunkeld offering excellent riverside hotels. This flexible package is recommended as a three-day fishing, four-night stay but can be tailored to suit your needs—an unforgettable opportunity to pursue Scotland’s legendary spring salmon.
