Royal Deeside Tour & River Dee Salmon Fishing

No trip to Scotland is complete without a visit to Deeside. Indeed Balmoral Castle located in Deeside is the summer home of the British Royal family. Royal Deeside is known for its breath taking scenery, rich history and is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. There are a multitude of activities for visitors to enjoy like visiting Balmoral Castle and Crathie Church, enjoying scenic drives along the River Dee and also fantastic cycling and hiking opportunities.

Royal Deeside is also home to one of the most famous salmon rivers in Scotland the prolific River Dee. The River Dee is a fly fishing paradise with fast flowing runs coupled with long dreamy pools and glides making it a firm favourite for the visiting angler as well as local fisherman.

Historically the River Dee was famed for its spring run with decent numbers of fish being caught from February through until the end of April. Although the river still produces decent numbers of spring salmon in more recent years the Dee has started to produce good numbers of summer salmon and grilse making it a good bet for a fish at any time during the season. The Dee also produces its fair share of big fish each year making it an even more attractive option to the salmon angler.

Our Royal Deeside Tour and River Dee salmon fishing package gives visitors the chance to enjoy salmon fishing on one of Scotland’s “big four” salmon rivers whilst also absorbing the rich history of the area. It is perfect for those who want to combine some good salmon fishing with exploring the local area.
