Skiing & Snowboarding

Skiing and snowboarding are both very popular pastimes among many visitors that come to Scotland. Scotland has five main ski centres, the Lecht, Cairngorm, Glenshee, Glencoe and the Nevis range which all offer something a little different. All the centres have great facilities with the Glenshee Ski centre being the UK’s largest skiing and snowboarding resort. As always skiing is weather-dependent and usually the best times to ski are from December through to the end of March. Many of the ski centres are conveniently situated close to the prime salmon rivers making a few days skiing a great addition to any fishing holiday.

THE MALT WHISKY TRAIL
THE MALT WHISKY TRAIL

No trip to Scotland is complete without experiencing some of the country’s world-famous malt whisky. There are over 90 active malt whisky distilleries in Scotland and Speyside is home to over half of these. Going on the malt whisky trail not only allows you to see how Scotland’s most famous product is made at first hand in different distilleries but it also gives you the opportunity to live and breathe the history behind it.

We at Salmon Fishing Holidays Scotland offer a unique one-day malt whisky tour where you will visit three distilleries through the course of the day, including Scotland’s smallest and Scotland’s highest distillery. Your experienced tour guide will pick you up in the morning by private car and take you to each distillery. On each tour, you will learn how the whisky is made and what makes it unique to the distillery itself. You will also have the chance to sample a number of signature malts through the course of the day, so you can decide which is your favourite. At the end of the whisky trail you will be driven back to your hotel or fishing lodge. This is a great way to spend a day away from the riverbank and learn and experience Scotland’s rich whisky heritage.
