There has been a definite chill in the air over the past few days in Scotland. This is hardly surprising as we are now into mid September. This can be good news for anglers that are coming to salmon fishing in Scotland in the next few weeks. Hopefully, sport will be brisk, as when the temperature drops at this time of year often the salmon become more aggressive, as they turn their thoughts towards spawning. This can make the fish more inclined to take a fly.

When the water temperature drops often making subtle changes to your tactics can pay rich dividends. You should consider fishing a little deeper in the water column as often an intermediate or sink tip line may be the order of the day. Also using a bigger fly can often illicit an aggressive response. Instead of using small dressed flies a larger tube fly can do the trick!
