The 2017 Scottish salmon fishing season has now drawn to a close on a number of rivers around the country. These include a few salmon rivers in the Scottish Highlands, like the Helmsdale, Halladale and Naver amongst others. Probably the most famous river to close its banks to anglers is the River Spey. The Spey is one of Scotland’s “big 4” salmon rivers and anglers on the river enjoyed an excellent spring season. Many anglers and ghillies are hoping for much of the same next year.

If you have a Scottish salmon fishing holiday booked this season, don’t worry as there is still plenty of good fishing still available across the country. Rivers like the Tay, Dee and Tweed are still open amongst many others, so you still have the chance of enjoying some excellent sport.
