Exclusive Fly Fishing On The Scottish Islands

So far we have looked at the salmon fishing and holiday accommodation options on mainland Scotland. However, Scotland’s west coast is surrounded by beautiful islands which offer some prolific salmon fishing. Islands like Isla, Arran and Jura all offer some great fishing. Probably the most well-known Islands around Scotland for salmon fishing is the Western Isles. These of course are made up of Lewis and Harris.

Salmon Fishing Holidays Scottish West Coast

Lewis and Harris offer fantastic salmon and grilse fishing over the summer months on a number of different rivers which span both islands. All the rivers on the Islands are smaller and spate rivers which mean the fish much better after there has been some rain and a lift in water. Most of the rivers originate from a loch or lake and often good numbers of salmon run into the loch. This allows anglers to fish loch style from a boat for Atlantic Salmon. This is a truly special and memorable experience. In addition to the prolific salmon and Sea trout fishing there are also hundreds of trout lochs on the Island which are teaming with wild Brown Trout. This gives anglers the opportunity to fly fish for this magnificent fish.

The Western Isles offer the visiting angler some of the most dramatic and rugged scenery Scotland has to offer. This makes it a breath taking backdrop to chasing Atlantic Salmon and trout. In addition to fresh water fishing there is also great sea fishing around the islands. This can be accessed from the shore and also by boat which we can arrange. Species which can be caught include cod, mackerel and Skate amongst others. This makes the Western Isles the perfect destination for that UK fishing holiday

In terms of accommodation in the area there are a number of magnificent fishing lodges on the Islands we can offer. These lodges offer luxury accommodation in a spectacular setting. Many of the estates also have their own private stretch of river as well as private trout lakes so anglers can chose which species they wish to target. If anglers would prefer more regal surroundings then there are a few estates which have guest accommodation in castles which provide a spectacular base whilst chasing silver. So, if you are looking for a fishing holiday in the UK and want to stay in castle then this could be the option for you.

Again, as with so much of Scotland we have fantastic holiday accommodation providers on the Islands that cater for all budgets and tastes. This make the Scottish Islands a great salmon fishing holiday destination well worth considering.
