We fished on the fabulous Delagyle Beat of the River Spey on Saturday. It is a beat, which has been a very popular option for our clients. Delagyle is situated in the heart of beautiful Spey side and is in the perfect location for that memorable Scottish salmon fishing holiday. There is a luxurious fishing lodge situated on the beat itself where fishers stay for the week and it is in fact so close to the river that you can hear the gentle rumble of the Spey at night.
Delagyle boasts some fantastic fly water and the experienced ghillie looks after the four rods. The beat holds good numbers of salmon from March through to the end of the season, making it a top salmon fishing destination in Scotland.
There were plenty of nice fish showing in every pool on Saturday and a number of these were fresh. Unfortunately, we failed to tempt any but this did not detract from a wonderful day. If the fresh salmon continue to run the River Spey through August, the salmon fishers are in for a treat!
